| At first, they told us to call these things "laptops." Way back when (less than a decade ago, but still an eternity in the world of electronics), laptops were finally beginning to catch on in the mainstream and become affordable to the average Joe (and Betsy and Vladimir and everybody else, too). And it was more than a novelty. It was cool to think about running a complete online business like Kickin' A Packs 'N Stuff in our living rooms, from a machine that sat on our laps, without ever having to get up or do much of anything other than click with our pointer finger and develop carpal tunnel syndrome.
But as these portable computers became more powerful, they began to generate a lot more heat. And as manufacturers had to constrain the dimensions of these ever-faster machines lest they simply become desktops, the sizes of the exhaust fans in laptops eventually hit a limit, whereas processors and memory speed continued to grow.
So laptops got hotter. Officially too hot to comfortably be placed atop one's legs (execs at Dell were understandably worried about the prospect of another "Mickey D's coffee in the lap incident"), there was an industry-wide shift towards the familiar "notebook" nomenclature used today. Which is sort of an odd name. If laptops were solely word processors, it might make sense. I suppose they're kinda like books because they fold closed. I dunno. I remain unconvinced.
All the same, laptops are touted as portable computers, but the simple fact of the matter is that they don't have handles or straps attached to them. So if you really want to transport your laptop (oh, excuse me... "notebook"), you're going to need a proper case! Our classic laptop case is so classic, it even retains the classic name of the notebook computer (is my grudge becoming apparent yet?).
This laptop case measures 15.5" x 12" x 4" in size. The best part of the whole shebang is the sheer amount of storage space available to you. Take the dual zippered main compartments, for instance.
The primary zippered compartment is heavily padded with open-cell foam to protect your computer from shock damage that can often occur in transit (whether in a motor vehicle or an airplane). Velcro straps further secure your machine to prevent internal load-shifting while on the go. On the inside flap of the primary compartment you'll find a built-in organizer, universal cell phone case, and a wide sleeve for computer peripherals. The large velcro pocket on the outside of this compartment is also reinforced and padded to protect your laptop's various accessories.
The secondary zippered compartment on the other side of the case is divided up into two sub-pockets intended for documents, discs, and similar items. The auxiliary front zippered pocket on the outside of this compartment works great for personal effects such as glasses or CD's or pogs.
It is worth noting that this 600-Denier polyester laptop case features a special adapter on its rear which allows it to mount to the telescoping handles on luggage and other wheel bags. In this fashion, you may place and carry your laptop on the tops of these bags without any chance of the case falling off and damaging your expensive electronic devices.
The leather carrying handle is extremely heavy-duty and is reinforced with double-seaming and steel rivets to minimize the detrimental effects of the cumulative weight of the bag. We've thrown an adjustable padded shoulder strap into the mix, just for good measure and because we're big fans of throwing stuff over our shoulders whenever possible, instead of having to use fingers and forearms, which have since become lazy and atrophied from lack of use.
No choice of colors here, but hey - why mess with the no-nonsense, dirt-hiding, butt-kicking attitude of matte black, right?
And with three months in which to prove us wrong, irrevocably damage this bag, and get a free repair job or replacement out of us as per our warranty, you're completely out of excuses. Own a laptop (grrr... or a "notebook")? Tired of that flimsy carrying case that was included just to get you to buy the thing? Then you'd better pick up our classic laptop case straight away! It won't let you down. |
