| Like many of the items we’ve designed and marketed over the years, the MD-Range Bag is a milestone in the development of the kinds of products firearms enthusiasts, sportsmen, police officers, and soldiers have gotten used to and accepted as standard issue. People don’t tend to get excited about accessories like range bags anymore. They’re useful, yes, but they tend to be tedious and ordinary – nothing special.
Well, ‘round these parts, we’re not content with the “everyday.” So we set to work coming up with inventive techniques to turn the average range bag into something noteworthy. Something so useful, so functional, and so versatile that our customers couldn’t afford not to own one. The first revolution in this mission arrived in the form of the D-Range Bag, and it was one of the earliest items we offered on this website due to popular demand at the gun shows.
The MD-Range Bag is the next stage in our ever-evolving design. Kickin’ A Packs has really put together something special here, using manufacturing techniques that have allowed us to improve every aspect of the original D-Range Bag without forcing our customers to hand over an arm and a leg just to get a hold of one.
Let’s start with the aesthetics. The “MD” bit isn’t just a marketing gimmick – it’s a cleverly disguised pun (but the cat’s out of the bag now!). The range bag’s exterior appearance is based on that of a medical bag. The advantage to this is more than just a pleasant aesthetic appeal (though this bag is certainly a good-looking accessory worth showing off at the range). The design allows the bag to compress while closed, maintaining the monstrous cargo space of the original D-Range bag while simultaneously lessening the overall bulkiness of the bag as a storage device (i.e., on a shelf, in a closet, in a fire safe, etc).
Like most of our stuff, the MD-Range Bag is comprised of heavy-duty nylon which is capable of resisting the adverse effects of water, dirt, and abrasion which would cause lesser textiles (such as leather) to buckle long before the product had provided a reasonable tenure of service. Here at Kickin’ A Packs ‘N Stuff, we employ nothing short of the finest fabrics available today in order to ensure your MD-Range Bag is with you for as long as you desire to use it! That’s how we’re able to serve our customers with a lifetime guarantee on all materials and workmanship.
Big, robust number 10 coil zippers are built into the range bag in pairs, enabling you to secure your firearms whether the bag’s on the move or in storage. Dual rubber-inlaid handles guarantee maximum comfort while carrying the bag, and a padded shoulder strap is included for your convenience.
The MD-Range Bag comes in two sizes – medium and large. Which one to choose essentially comes down to the question of how much gear you plan to carry or store in your bag. There are, however, some notable differences in features between both sizes.
The medium-sized bag, measuring 13.5” x 8” x 8”, features a series of pockets along the inner edge of the central storage compartment. These sleeves are perfect not only for extra magazines, but work great for cleaning tools, protective gear, knives, and flashlights, too. The large-sized bag, 3” wider than the medium (coming out to 13.5” x 12” x 10”) features interior sleeves, as well. Obviously the large bag’s pockets will hold more because they’re bigger.
Externally, the medium bag features six open-air pockets, and two mesh pouches on each side – great for tucking away ammo boxes, a cell phone, or sunglasses while down at the range. The large bag does not boast mesh pockets, but rather slick-looking (and spacious!) pleated pockets on both sides. These pockets are similar in design to the front pocket on our flagship Tommy’s Gun Pack and other Kickin’ A products. The zippers on the pleated pockets are doubled so you can lock up your valuables.
Removable inserts are one of the crowning achievements of sheer utilitarianism which made our original D-Range Bag so ridiculously cool. Inserts are basically removable pouches in which you can seal your handguns. They also act as dividers, separating handguns from one another as well as from other gear.
The MD-Range Bag preserves usage of the removable inserts as the primary means of storing your firearms. The medium MD-Range Bag includes three 6x10” inserts and can comfortably store as many as six inserts (the additional three inserts can be purchased separately). The large bag comes with six 6x10” inserts, and, as with the medium, we recommend adding up to no more than three additional inserts (for a monstrous total of nine!). Extra inserts cost five bucks a pop.
With the maximum number of inserts, the medium MD-Range Bag will easily cart six guns without breaking a sweat. The large bag, with its lockable pleated pockets on the exterior, plus nine inserts, can tote up to eleven weapons for the ultimate in firearms transport and storage! But the best part of all is that this range bag will completely accommodate anybody, no matter your needs!
Suppose you own only one or two weapons, and would rather use the rest of the bag space for ammo and other equipment. The pistol inserts and ammo boxes will comfortably co-exist within the (frankly) brilliantly designed interior of our MD-Range Bag. Or maybe you’d rather devote the entire bag to ammunition only, or to cleaning equipment – or, perhaps, even as a non-firearms toolbag! This range bag will do exactly what you want without complaint or hesitation. That’s the beauty of innovation as only Kickin’ A Packs can deliver it! Whether on the move or in storage, this range bag does it all, and does it well!
