| This special limited production Tommy’s Gun Pack is lovingly handcrafted to order right in our workshop by the talented Kickin’ A Packs sewsmiths. It’s a beautiful pack made of the highest quality 1000-denier Cordura, a variant of nylon developed by DuPont some 75 years ago and yet remains both stronger and more resilient to fraying or ripping than almost any other synthetic fabric in existence.
This limited production pack has been rendered in a bold, unique "High Desert" two-tone design created especially for the summer season and in a never-before-seen style, utilizing a two-tone aesthetic without relying on a black Cordura base.
Because of the molecular structure of the Cordura polymers we use in our packs, it is a difficult material to dye as the colors can easily fade over a short span of time due to the yarns’ resistance to foreign adherents and environmental disruptors (this includes moisture, oil, dirt, oxygen, and UV rays too!). Black is the one color that that has always proven relatively simple and inexpensive to produce with practically infinite photochemical staying power, and for that reason the first Tommy’s Gun Packs to hit the market were purely black. You’ll also notice that, to this day, the vast majority of nylon textiles are also black for the same reason.
As the years progressed, higher quality and distinctly more vibrant dyes were developed for use with Cordura, and we began to incorporate two-tone designs to give the packs (and their owners!) some flavor and personality, but refrained from introducing solid-color packs because the non-black dyes make the fabric more difficult to work with and are prohibitively expensive to produce.
This hasn’t changed much even though we do indeed now offer solid-color packs, and the High Desert gun pack is an exceptional steal at $74.99 considering that it is neither easy nor cost-effective to manufacture such a design!
