| Harnessing New Potential
The Tommy’s Gun Pack LOWRIDER is a variation on our hugely successful Tommy’s Gun Pack SIDEKICK, essentially mounting the gun pack to a drop-down harness which positions the pack on your thigh. A much-requested alternate design intended for joggers, hikers, climbers, cyclists, and excursionists striking out into the wilderness on ATV’s or dirt bikes, the LOWRIDER provides a comfortable and optimally stabilized platform for drawing a concealed weapon.
We custom manufacture every LOWRIDER gun pack ourselves, assembling it by hand in our Southern California workshop from a material base comprised of industrial-grade 1000-denier nylon Cordura.
Unlike ripstop nylon, Cordura is safe for gun finishes and if it gets dirty, you can just toss it into the washing machine with the rest of your laundry. Cordura boasts excellent abrasion resistance, meaning it is very difficult to fray the material through repeated exposure to friction or coarse surfaces.
Similar to its textile cousin, ballistic nylon, Cordura is also nearly impossible to deliberately tear and can even withstand the slash of a knife without the yarns unraveling at the site of the damage. Thus, even if the pack is somehow torn or ripped, the weight of your weapon and ammunition will not cause the LOWRIDER to spontaneously fall apart and spill its contents to the ground.
Nylon Cordura is heavy-duty without becoming too weighty, burdensome, or difficult to work with, and it is completely invulnerable to UV rays, temperature extremes, dirt, water, oil, and rot or mildew build-up. Cordura offers outstanding resiliency to every environmental vector and superlative fiber integrity owed almost entirely to the virtually unbreakable peptide bonds in its primary polymer chain (the same super-strong chemical bonds that hold the DNA in your cells together, in fact).
In short: it is a reliable, high quality synthetic fabric and if you’re going to build a pack for carrying bulky metal objects day in and day out, you have no choice but to use the best and nothing short of Cordura makes the cut, in our book.
The entire pack is double-seamed with tough, durable nylon stitching, including the LOWRIDER’s fully adjustable drop-down harness. The harness consists of three straps total – a vertical stabilizer strap which attaches to your belt, and two mounting straps for attaching the LOWRIDER to your leg.
The harness is cut from a heavyweight nylon webbing called Glossflex, a soft, highly pliable material with a slightly shiny finish that can be worn for many hours without provoking muscular discomfort or skin irritation. Glossflex is also unbelievably strong and rates a breaking force of 7700 pounds!
Drop It Down, Ride It Low
The vertical stabilizer strap attaches to a belt of your choosing, up to a max width of 2”, and is available with the optional addition of one of our EZFit 2” Gun Belts right from the LOWRIDER’s options menu, for your convenience. The strap is individually adjustable, offering a completely configurable height for the LOWRIDER itself.
The stabilizer strap can also detach from the belt loop at the top by way of a Cop-Lok triple-retention buckle, which requires three release prongs (rather than two) be depressed before the buckle will release. Thiswelcome boost of security will help prevent any malicious third party from being able to wrestle the pack off of your personage
The two mounting straps that actually anchor the LOWRIDER gun pack to your thigh are both individually adjustable, as well. They are placed one above the other on the rear of the pack and are sewn into the seam in order to disperse all applied stress energy along and through the body of the gun pack. The buckles are not triple-retention Cop-Loks but, rather, standard two-prong designs in order to improve the ease and speed of removing the pack from your leg when not in use.
The upper of the two mounting straps features Glossflex webbing with a removable nylon-elastic band that preserves comfort and flexibility of movement, while the lower strap is webbing only, creating the rock-solid anchor necessary to ensure the LOWRIDER remains firmly secured to your leg and doesn’t shift about once in place. As previously stated, the nylon-elastic band can be unbuckled from the upper strap if you prefer, rendering it webbing-only just like the lower strap.
Both the Cop-Lok buckle on the stabilizer strap and all buckles on the mounting straps are molded from polyoxymethylene, also known as acetal. This is an amazing substance! It’s a high-end engineering-grade thermoplastic with unsurpassed tensile strength and used in many demanding mechanical applications as a substitute for metal components due to its massive ruggedness.
As you might imagine, acetal represents an enormous upgrade to the nylon and polyurethane buckle components we’ve used in the past, and is more or less unbreakable under any and every condition (try to avoid being hit by a meteor, though).
Leaving Our Mark
The Tommy’s Gun Pack LOWRIDER is broken up into three separate zippered compartments. The rearmost compartment (the one pressed up against your leg) is the gun pouch which actually holsters your weapon and provides the means to quickly present your firearm in a dangerous self-defense scenario. The pouch is padded with closed-cell polyethylene foam in order to cushion your firearm while being transported and protect it from minor shock damage if dropped or bumped against a hard surface.
To access the gun pouch, just grab its deployment buckle, detach it by pressing the two release prongs (like any other buckle), and simply pull forward. Dual YKK number 8 coil zippers will break away in opposite directions, opening up the gun pouch around your firearm and giving you the edge you need in a potentially dangerous situation.
This double-zipper buckle release system is not exclusive to the LOWRIDER, but is, in actuality, a unique design used across our entire line of gun packs, for which the USTPO awarded us a patent some years ago (read the patent by clicking HERE).
Truth is, there’s no other deployment system out there that rivals ours for speed, efficiency, and ease of use because there’s simply no better way to do it. You’ll be using the Tommy’s Gun Pack LOWRIDER to its fullest potential within minutes of receiving the pack – it really can’t get any more straightforward than it already is!
The deployment buckle which opens the gun pouch is located on the same side as your drawing hand. As such, while the LOWRIDER can be utilized any way you find both comfortable and easy, we recommend employing the gun pack in a cross-draw configuration.
This means, for example,if you’re a right-handed draw, you’ll want to position the LOWRIDER on your left leg so that the deployment buckle can be accessed by your left hand while your right hand draws.
All the Bells and Whistles
In front of the main gun pouch are two auxiliary zippered pockets which also make good use of YKK’s number 8 coil zippers. We consider these zippers to be the absolute best in terms of construction and functionality. They’re cast with a high degree of precision and are self-repairing, meaning if the slider becomes misaligned with the coils, the entire zipper can be reset without any special tools.
YKK number 8’s are also smooth-operating and, when in use, are almost unnoticeable beneath the fingers. Additionally, these zippers are quadruple-seamed to the pack to ensure they enjoy unmatched longevity. The copper zipper pulls you’re used to seeing attached to the majority of zipper sliders in existence have been replaced on this gun pack with nylon Cordura zipper pulls instead.
These soft yet sturdy “stealth” zipper pulls completely neutralize the LOWRIDER’s acoustic profile and prevent a cacophony of jingling madness every time you make a move. This could prove highly valuable especially in a self-defense crisis where you might want to remain unheard.
The two auxiliary pockets make the LOWRIDER an all-in-one transport solution for extra ammo or personal belongings. The larger of the two pockets contains a series of integrated nylon-elastic magazine holders which can easily accommodate all standard and double-stacked mags and some high-capacity mags, as well.
When not in use, the mag holders simply lay flat against the back of the pocket’s interior in order to make room for other things. Not merely a place to stick additional clips, they’re also an excellent means of securing flashlights, knives, your cell phone, or anything else that will fit into the nylon-elastic loops!
The LOWRIDER can be yours in one of four distinct sizes to oblige whatever weapon you might wish to conceal, and there are a whole mess of colors to pick from! You can get your pack sewn in either a two-tone or solid color design.
A two-tone color scheme dyes only the front panel of the pack while leaving the rest in black Cordura, whereas a solid color scheme renders the entire pack in the chosen color. It’s really just a matter of subjective taste, but we personally think the LOWRIDER looks best in a solid color!

The LOWRIDER gun pack is backed by our lifetime warranty on all material and workmanship. We’ve infused this pack with the highest grade components available, having spent many months alone trying out many different kinds of buckles, foam, material, zippers, webbing, and stitching.
